Cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States

The Ministry of Health implements the sectoral cooperation with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states within the framework of the Council for Health Cooperation of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), founded in 1992.

The Minister of Health and the Deputy Minister - Chief State Sanitarian of the Republic of Belarus, represent the Republic of Belarus in the Council for Health Cooperation.

Regular meetings of the Council are convened at least twice a year, and if necessary (at the request of one of the members of the Council) a special meeting is conducted.

The special XXII meeting of the Council was held on May 29, 2013 in Moscow within the framework of the II Intergovernmental Forum of the CIS member states Health is a basis for the well-being of the CIS countries. The Belarusian delegation was headed by I.V.Gaevsky, the Deputy Minister of Health - Chief State Sanitarian of the Republic of Belarus.

Members of the Council from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republics of Uzbekistan and Ukraine participated in the meeting of the Council. Representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which has not yet subscribed to the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of health protection of the population, partook in the meeting as observers.

As a result of this session, a draft strategy Health of People of the Commonwealth of Independent States and a report on the activities of the CIS Council for Health Cooperation were approved. Tactics for agreement of issues, relevant to all CIS member states, within the framework of cooperation with the World Health Organization, were discussed.
