(222) 32 23 42Belarus and Georgia: Open Dialogue and Areas of Cooperation in Medicine
Minister of Health Alexander Khodzhaev met with Giorgi Saganelidze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Belarus, at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.
The meeting was attended by Ministry of Health staff, representatives of leading healthcare institutions, and Aleksi Iasoshvili, First Secretary of the Embassy of Georgia in Belarus.
Words of Gratitude to Open the Dialogue
Welcoming the guests, the Minister asked them to convey his sincere gratitude to the Georgian side, and personally to the Minister of Health of Georgia, for the assistance provided to Belarusian citizens injured in a recent road accident in Georgia.
“We understand each other, and when one of us finds itself in a difficult situation, we help each other. Our friendly relations, which are the fundamental basis of our cooperation, help us achieve positive results regardless of differences in our approaches to delivering medical care and in our drug certification systems,” emphasized Alexander Khodzhaev.
Giorgi Saganelidze noted the warm attitude towards Belarusians in Georgia and spoke about the prospects for closer professional ties:
“In some areas you have more experience, in others we do. We need to blaze new trails and build bridges so that we can stay in constant contact and share experience.”
The Ambassador particularly highlighted the high level of Belarusian medicine, especially cardiology, and expressed interest in the possibility of retraining Georgian specialists in cardiac rehabilitation in Belarus. According to him, there is potential to expand cooperation not only between the ministries but also directly between clinics.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed:
recognition of diplomas of foreign citizens who received medical education in Belarus;
certification of medicines;
opportunities to supply Belarusian-made equipment to Georgia.
We are confident that such meetings, imbued with sincere respect and goodwill, will continue to strengthen the friendship between the peoples of our two countries.
